Fourth of July Note

Editor’s Note: Happy Fourth of July week! In thinking about my many freedoms, I realized I was free to take a couple weeks off from writing this blog! My co-author Joy Jones and I are doing final edits on our book about Bill and Lois Wilson and their impact on the world of addiction and recovery. As noted in last week’s post Summer’s Gifts, it is summer and time for lightness. May the Fourth offer you some summer fun and an opportunity to reflect on how we individually and collectively are free and not so free and what’s ours to do to expand personal and community freedom. A friend recently shared with me a summary of Buddhist teaching from Ruth King. Not personal, not permanent, not perfect! I find pondering that mantra expands my sense of freedom. Enjoy and thanks for being a Critical Conversations reader. Look for the next post on Tuesday, July 16.
